Paranormal Groups

Admittedly, this is all pretty weird, right? So how do you screen out the jokers and joyriders? What should you have in place for legal and privacy protection? What should your expectations be on behavior and providing results profesisonally?

Privacy!

For some groups running around, an ‘investigation’ is more like a pajama party. How do you tell you’re getting a serious attempt to get to the bottom of your unexplained situation?

This is an important question, especially if you are concerned about your information being spread around town or plastered across the internet. You may not want to experience the ridicule that can go along with entertaining the possibility of haunts. You probably don’t want gawkers hanging out and taking pictures – even knocking on your door to ask for a look around inside. You may particularly be repulsed at the thought of having your private information – your family information – being plastered all over the internet.

As a homeowner, it is important that you ask any group that you are considering to investigate your home to address this question. Most of the reputable groups will have a non-disclosure agreement to ensure your privacy as a home owner. Sign it, if one is available (both parties need to sign it). Some groups will ask for permission to share case information with other groups (without your personal information). This is actually a great idea, and can possibly be a benefit to your case. It is up to you to make sure that whatever you are comfortable with is stated in writing and protects your privacy.

Does the group charge a fee?

If the answer to this is yes, kindly move on to the next group. Because of the nature of the field, it is ripe with cons and frauds. Groups that charge for services are often nothing more than a sham and are regarded as such by the paranormal community as a whole.

Visit the group’s web site!

If they have proudly posted lots of photos of spooky looking orbs, you might want to consider a different group.

If they are boasting about all of the well-known haunted places in the area that they have investigated and don’t have much else to say about actually helping homeowners, it may be that this group is just out for the joyride.  In these cases the web pages exist more as an outlet of pure bravado, not a declaration of professional prowess.

Moving forward, we may publish some investigative group information on this page, with contact information.  There are no guarantees that we can find a group in your area, or that the group listed nearest you will actually help you out.
